Vilacello String and Piano Festival is a one-week intensive program for violin, viola, cello and piano students, ages 10-25, who want to improve their skills, learn from professional faculty, and have fun with other musicians from around the globe. From our Founder & Artistic Director – Bartholomew Fortino-Shields: Vilacello is a summer institute where talented young musicians come to discover their fullest potential. The idea of Vilacello began 15 years ago, with my childhood friends from youth orchestra. June of 2023 marked our first season of being an official summer music institute. Each one of the faculty and staff saw how beauty, hard work, and creativity came together in harmony, in the span of just one week. The students were profoundly impacted by the nurturing atmosphere at Vilacello. Any seemingly impossible roadblocks, whether technically or musically, were met with the best tools to unlock the next level of mastery in each student’s playing. Our second season will begin on August 12th, 2024. We anticipate that many from around the world will join us for another excellent summer!
